Nail biting Siamese cats

I was wondering if anybody could advise me, I have two siamese cats, a three year old boy and a recently turned two year old girl. Cosmic the male has been for lack of a better description biting his nails for almost as long as I can remember. He will just from time to time sit and literally start biting/ pulling at his nails. This morning for the first time I noticed Mia doing it too. They are indoors cat with several cardboard type scratching posts spread trough the house. They are taden out under supervision for "catwatch" as often as we can manage so they can climb trees and sharpen claws on real bark. Is there anything I can do about this "nail biting"? Will trimming their nails help? Different type of scratching post? Or is it just something some cats do and I should just leave them at it?

Mine does the same thing. He is a blue point neutered male.

Partly it is something they all do but regular trimming helps to reduce the severity of such behavior.

I have seen every cat I've ever met do this to some extent. It's part of their bathing process. I don't see how it's harmful unless your cat is doing it to an extreme extent. If not, I would just leave it be.

My cats do the same thing. I give there nails a trim and it solves the problem. Cats "shed" there nails kinda like a snake, and the biting is to remove the "caps" to reveal the "new nail" sometimes scratching doesnt always do the trick.
