Also, would love some opinions. Would taking him away on a trip a week after he gets here be too much for him? It's the easter long weekend and I would really like to take the chance to go for a drive to a really nice beach, but it is about 5 hours away. I won't go if it will be too much for him, but I would camp where dogs are allowed so he would be with me 24/7. I haven't had a pup this little in a long time!

Honestly it would be a great bonding time as long as he has had at least his first 2 sets of shots

He is an Australian Koolie. They are kind of like the Australian Kelpie or a short coated Border Collie - they are a herding breed and can be used to work cattle, sheep, ducks, etc. they aren't a AKC regained breed so there aren't as many of them around, but there is a registry ad they can be put on the sporting register so you can do agility and herding etc. I would really like to have a go at herding and/or flyball when he is a bit older.

Loving the name suggestions! I actually don't mind Muddy as a name lol!

I don't know why but when I looked at that handsome pup the name Dooley came to mind.

How old is he going to be when you get him? When I got Remington, the vet said to avoid taking her to places where she could smell other (unknown) dogs poop, as there is a virus that is potentially fatal to puppies. A week after her second set of shots, I was allowed to take her everywhere I wanted too. However, we do live in completely different countries, so maybe it isn't a worry there...? It is called "Canine Parvovirus".

Yes we have Parvovirus here as well. He will be a bit over eight weeks, and have had his first shot. He will be starting puppy classes as soon as I get him, they only require them to have had their first shot.

Another name idea, I thought of it earlier then dismissed it, but dad suggested it again. In working for a the mining company Rio Tinto. The other worker here called his dog Rio, I could call mine Tinto ha ha! It's actually growing on me!

So far front runners are rusty, dusty, rev and Tinto!

Just spoke To the breeder, looks like I will be picking him up on the 23rd! Just a bit over a week! I am super excited to meet him.
