I had a black lab that had her papers for working dog in field trials

First time I took her over to my dads (he had banty chickens)

She brought me back 3 of them before I could catch her.

Needless to say my dad was not to happy, especially about the
Third one, it was his little rooster, I think he had a heart attack
As there were no tooth marks in him. The other two lived.

Any way she was banned from his property. LOL.

OH RC...that's funny, but understand the ban!

My Blue Heeler got ahold of one of our hens in the yard, the dog at the time only outweighed the hen by about 15 lbs....they had quite the wresteling match going on in the yard. When I finally saw what was happening I went zooming out the back door and yelled the dogs name....She immediately stopped and tough old hen got up and waddled back to the coop with one wing drooping, the bird recovered but the dog now fights this inner urge to chase but knows she can't. We'll probably forever have to keep an eye on her...The way I've always heard/seen is that once a dog gets to killing chickens you can darn near never break them.

One of the many shorthairs my dad had when I was a kid used to bury my mom's chickens alive. My mom hated that dog so much! My dad thought it was funny. Needless to say, she gave up on raising chickens.

My dads golden would always go out to the pheasent coop and since he was trained for them would try and get into the cage and catch them.

Amy, you're terrible! LOL! I don't remember it as I was so young, but I have heard countless stories, and to this day, if it's brought up my mom will get mad at my dad all over again. THAT is funny!

ER, it's not often I hear of goldens being used for hunting anymore...that's great! Well, not that he wants to get into the coop to get them, but nonetheless...:)
