Old dog to a turn for the worse
My old dog, Toby, is roughly fourteen in human years, so he's about 95 in dog years... He's been sick for a few months now... he has masive heart failure, according to the vet, and is on heart pills and water pills.
He's been doing great on them...
But last night he took a turn for the worse...
All day he's been bloated and just laying around, having trouble breathing, and not being able to get comfortable. I've been having to carry him to the water bowl and outside so he could pee and all and then carry him back inside.
Now, he's even more bloated and aparently it hurts to touch his stomach, because he yelpedand bit me when I tried to check how bloated he is. He also can't walk hardly, having trouble moving his back legs and all (he's crippled as well, so that's not helping either).
I'm planning on calling/taking him to the vet tomorrow if he isn't feeling any better... I really don't want him to pass on, he's been a major part of my life since I was in first grade and he was my first real friend I ever had... always mine and mine alone.
We aren't going to euth him, well, we aren't planning on it... we want him to pass on here at home, not in the vets office... but if he's in serious pain that can't be helped, then I would rather have him euthed... He's been my 'baby' for most all my life that I can remember, and he deserves to leave this world in a dignified manner, not in pain and agony due to a failing heart (and probably other organs).
I'm really hoping he's better tomorrow... I'm not ready for him to die!
