For Pinto Pony!!

I got your PM chickey doodle, and I wanted to share my Guinea Pigs with you as well - but then I thought, why not share them with other Guinea Pig enthusiasts..if there are any on here.

So here are my Guinea Pigs:

This is Mochiatto. She is an Abysynian *sp*. She is about 6 months old. I got her as an xmas present. She is just darling, very talkative and social.

This is Bindi. She is a chubby tubby! I forgot what "species" of Pig she is, but she has this HUGE double chin that wobbles whenever she moves. She has this adorable Rosette on her forehead, hence the name Bindi - I stuck a stick on rhinestone in the middle of her rosette one day..lol.

We adopted her.

And Maple. She is the same species as Bindi - just younger. She was another Xmas Present from Hubby's best friend. She is not that social at all.

And this is Her Royal Porkchoppiness - or Porkchop. She passed away just before Xmas of Pnemonia. We brought her to the vet and was put on Antibiodics, but it didn't help. Too little too late.

She was my princess and I took her everywhere with me. She was so social and has such personallity. I miss her terribly

OMG thanks for posting them, they are too cute! Their little mouths look like they should be able to talk. Reminds me of the one on Dr. Doolittle (the new ones) where the guinea pig talks to him. That 2nd photo makes me want to give him a smootch

OMG YAY!!!
Someone on here has Guinea Pigs! I was gonna start a thread about them cos I'm new to the animal the other day!
I just got my very first GP on Wednesday. I love her to death already, but I am finding contradicting advice about how much veges/fruit she should be fed.

I hope you don't mind me showing you my girl, Topaz! Excuse me in the 2nd pic, I put it up cos it shows her awesome markings off.

She is soooo pretty!!!!

Make sure they have veggies on a daily basis. Carrots, Romain Lettuce, Red and Green Bell Peppers, Oranges, Seedless Grapes.

Mine get mostly Romain Lettuce and Carrots.

BUT your girl is soooo pretty!

Awww! Pinny Gigs are just the funniest little creatures! I cant say I've ever owned one, but my cousins did.. you'd never guess what she called it: Jellybeanfretzle. Where that name came from? good question! she was only a little mite when she named him, but it just cracked me up!
MIEventer: I love the colouring of Porkchop... just gorgeous! RIP little one.

See, thats what we have been doing... she's been getting grapes, carrot, lettuce and cellery. I read up on a website what she could and couldn't have.
But the pet shop people said if we fed it too much she'd get gas/bloated and to feed it only once or twice a week, which didn't make sense to me.
I had to teach her how to drink from a water bottle cos they just had a dish and so at first she didn't drink much water. I've had her 4 days now and last night she REALLY got into the water, and went to the toilet lots (both types lol)... I thought perhaps she might have gas cos of the change of diet (still on the same pellets as they had at the pet store, but with a lot more "greens" in her diet). I got worried last night, cos she is my first guinea pig and I thought I'd done something wrong... she seems a bit brighter today, and hasn't gone to the toilet nearly as much as last night. I hoping whatever it was has gone now!
Thanks for clarifying that with me, I just had to make sure we weren't giving her too much stuff!
x

Pigs are foragers like horses are. They have to graze allot. Make sure you supply a readily available amount of hay. Alfalfa/timothy, they need that everyday at their own free will.

They have to have something in their stomaches, if they don't they'll "colic".

My pigs get veggies and dried fruit daily. They also get free choice of their alfalfa pellets.

Yes she has hay too.
Thanks for the advice. I'm just the type who when is new to something, I get worried when I don't have an answer to what I see! Lucky I'm not the type of person who is afraid of asking questions!

Yay there are more piggy slaves out there Hehe. Thanks for starting the thread MIE Your piggles are adorable, I love Mochiatto, I had a girl who looked alot like her a while back :)

So these are my current owners... Muffin and Snufkin. I have had them about 2 weeks now, two little short haired girls, about 6 weeks old.

Me and the day I got them, I was so excited!

They are cowgirl pigs

Muffin seeing what is on the other side of the lounge

Snufkin holding my hand

Not letting go!

Thats it for now! I have had guinea pigs over the last 8 years and love the little furballs and couldn't stand not having them when Strawberry passed on couple weeks ago hehe. My mum missed them more than me I think hehe. So she will keep these little girls when I go to the USA.
