Poorly Cat :(

My 11 yo rescue cat has become very ill. She went missing yesterday morning and reappeared this evening to attempt to eat but she is coughing too much. We have had her 10 years. We will take her to the vet tomorrow (if we can find her then) to see what they can do. I suspect all she needs is a flu jab, but it's catching her that is the issue. If only we could explain to her that it will make her better :( Your thoughts and prayers would be much appreciated thank you x

Well she didn't turn up the next morning or the morning after...

But she did turn up this evening (which is the same amount of time she went missing for last time). The vet surgery was closed by then :s Difficult cat!

So to prevent risk of her wandering off again, we have put her is our old dog cage that we had when our dog was a puppy. She's not happy... Tough love huh?

We have an appointment tomorrow at the vets so fingers crossed they can do something for her. Hopefully it is just flu (saying that she is 11). And I don't know what the vet is going to say when we tell them that she hasnt had a flu jab since 1999 :s, oh well, I did say she was an 'outdoors' cat.

Took her to the vet this morning and she had to injections. One antibiotic and one anti inflammatory. And also she was prescribed eye drops (that will be fun) and we picked up a wormer as well, to get a full bill of health :)

Glad to read she is healing up for you. =] When I can't get my barn cats when I need them, I set up a trap and throw them in a XL dog crate bought specifically for cats. I also trap the ferals and take them to a clinic that will spay and neuter them for free. They don't like living in the crate for a few days, but at least now we aren't over-run with a ton of cats. o_O Tough love is right, but it's certainly necessary. =]

Beautiful cat. Hopefully she'll be well soon!
