Rescue people // transport people??

Anyone else here do rescue and transport?? I started a thread that got tons of replies on another forum and we put together a wonderful group of people that all work together to place pets in new homes.

Currently I have a GSD puppy that is either headed to MN or up the east coast to the CT area. Anyone interested in taking a leg??

If you can't do this transport but would be interested if something is headed in your direction, please feel free to post. Info that is helpful:

I'll start

I'm in middle TN. I've gone as far as neighboring states; NC, AL, GA, KY, even up to OH. I've got an Explorer extended, so lots of room in the back for a good sized dog. Have lots of kennels in all sizes. I am always willing to overnight anyone with any pet they bring in my home. I make a killer big breakfast. My only limitation is horses / cattle. My back property isn't fenced and I don't have a trailer and no way to pull one. Maybe some day.... I'll transport anything that fits in the Explorer. My schedule is pretty flexible as long as I have a few days notice. And if anyone is taking an extra long leg of the trip I can get you discounted hotel rooms for your trip back.

How long is the average trip one would have to make?

Completely up to you. When a transport request is posted in your general area just post where you're willing to pick up and where you're willing to go to.

Meant to also add, I finally got her home and she's precious!! I've got most of the transport covered, though we're having some issues with the GA to TN leg now. I may have to take off early Friday from work and run down to GA to get 5 that were sprung from a shelter down there where they were going to be gassed today. Poor babies. Someone offered to bring them from GA to SC and I was going to meet them there and head to NC to meet the next person on the leg and move the pup to CT. But now..... Well, the GA person can't leave until Sunday and everyone else needs to do a Saturday transport. And the girl in CT that wanted her won't be around to get her. Ugh!!

Still not sure on her, but we're going through with the other 5 at a minimum.

Anyway, this is the girl I'm trying to get up north. Sweet as candy I tell ya!!

Totally off topic, but *drool*

I've always wanted to visit Montana. The photos I've seen are just breathtaking!! Hubby lived in Wyoming for quite a few years and said it's just the most beautiful area. If they could just do something about those 20 foot snow drifts. I'm a native island girl. We don't get too much snow in SW FL. I'm just barely getting by in TN!!

Now, keep your fingers crossed. I've now got 6 puppies that are being transported this weekend that we've saved and I'm working on springing another 8 week old GSD girl from puppy prison today before they euth her tonight.
