I have an Umbrella Cockatoo and a Quaker Parrot, I have no picture's but I promise to get 'em soon. I also work at a bird store called First Flight where we sell handfed parrots and supply, we have hundreds of birds and I'm trying to convince my parents to get me Caique
By boss has a Red-Headed Amazon parrot, that's 30ish I believe. She's definitely loud, but after a few days it just becomes background noise. I've always wanted a Macaw, or a lovebird, but honestly at this point I know that I don't have enough time to devote to a bird, but maybe someday. I do agree with the research as well. I hear all sorts of complaints about different dogs and horses that people have bought without doing any research, and end up with something they really didn't want, but they end up blaming the animal, or the breeder, ect. Research is invaluable, and before I end up getting a bird I will definitely be doing a lot more indepth research into the breed I want, as well as talking to others who have one or more so I can be as prepared and knowledgeable as possible.
Lol, TiaTatianna, they're not all mine. Only Mushu and Icarus, and soon to be Taz. The rest are my mom's friends...we were bird watching them, and I thought I'd share. :)
For Christmas my aunt and uncle (Also Cockatiel owners, they have Cosmo and Zazu) got Mushu and Icarus a nice new big cage! The birds love it, and so do I! It's a little bare right now because I need longer/larger toys as many of the ones we already had don't reach to the perches. I got a 40$ mall card, so I'm going to buy them some toys from the petstore.
The bird on the left is Big Red, I rescued her from a breeder who abused her, I had her for about three months and she had so much love to give. She picked out her feathers while with the breeder because of stress, she had bird in the cage below her that would bite her feet and tail feathers. Finally, I went to a rescue and saw how much better off she would be there and now she's at Second Chance Bird rescue and is living a REALLY happy life. The bird on her right is Papa, he wouldn't go near any bird or come off his perch once his mate died, but once I brought Red over, he got off his perch and fell in love with her immediately. This is them on the floor walking around like two old people. They aren't up for adoption, because they are forever homed there.
