Teeny tiny baby birds!

So for my 22nd birthday in October I got 2 beautiful little canaries. They were selected from an aviary with 20 or so canaries in it. So no intentions of getting a breeding pair. We chose them simply because they were pretty!

Imagine my surprise when a few weeks later, Snickers is frantically shredding branches and what not and building flimsy nests all over the cage. So we bought the poor girl a nest and some nesting material and let her go nuts. Sure enough she built herself a nest and started laying eggs. We never thought anything would come of it.

We were wrong.

Here we are 2 weeks later and we have 3 tiny, adorably ugly baby canaries!

OMG! Soo cute/ugly! Baby birds creep me out though ever since I steppes on a squished one when I was little... Are Canaries picky about who they will bowchiggadowdow with?

Haha, I know right! They are the creepiest kind of cute ever!

I don't think they are particularly picky about their partners, we just were under the impression that we had 2 females as neither of them made very much noise. But having now done some research I know that the males generally don't make much noise during breeding season. And Chopin has really started singing in the last week or so.

How sweet (tweet) is that!?
My Grandmother always had a canary. You're going to have lots of singing going on in your house.

Sorry to dig this one up but just wanted to update everyone. Babies are 17 days old now, healthy, noisy, attempting to leave the nest
