    Again, this dog was at one point kept muzzled constantly. And cringes and tries to get away if a muzzle is brought out still at this point. When he's not worn one for months.

    Ahh I must have somehow missed that...poor guy, sound like you've come very far with him, I can see now why a muzzle would be a no no, could definitely be a major set back for him :(

    Some people shouldn't have animals (referring to old owners) he is so lucky to have found you, most people wouldn't take on such a large potentially aggressive animal. Kudos to you and how you find something that works for your boy.

    Have you tried cooked chicken and rice? If you are feeding any other human food stop now. We had a husky with Gluten Intolerance and it took weight off her (mother in law was feeding human food without us knowing, as soon as it stopped the weight went back on). Chicken is always a winner in our house, never gets left.

    If you are really concerned go to your vet. A good one will offer you Critical Care Food Tins which are packed full of calories and nutrients. But beware they are not cheap. I'm not sure what brand you have is the US, no doubt it is different to UK
