Exclamation Holy earwax! with a pic

So my nearly 6 year old has had a problem with earwax build up, the Dr.s look and say it will fall out on it's own, since he wasn't cooperative for them, but it wasn't falling out. I started putting warm olive oil in his ear and that caused the wax to come out of the one ear after a few days of doing it every day, but after about 2 weeks it would not come out of the one ear. So today I used a pair of hemostats to pull it out( very very carefully so I didn't go in too far) This is it in the ear

And this is what I got out!

Has anyone else ever seen a piece of wax so big? I don't know how he could hear with that thing in there Any tips to keep it from accumulating like that again?

That's quite incredible. Did your son say if it felt better once it was out - that must have been uncomfortable in there?

Have you tried the earwax candles to clean his ears? Or flushing them?

I heard the candles are disgustingly awesome.

Wow, that's icky and interesting at the same time. One of my nephews gets major wax and they go to the pediatrician every so often and they put in a medicated solution and flush it out with a little machine that looks kind of like a water pik.

I used to get earwax like this a few years ago. Also had incredibly oily hair no matter how often I washed it. All I can think of is maybe diet creating an increase in...er...bodily excretions?

Poor baby!

I have also heard that the candles can do a good job at drawing out wax.
