    I had never heard of candling before, so I googled it. There has been medical research done that shows no proof that the candles do any good, and in fact have been known to do more damage than good, with everything from candle wax occlusion of the ear canal to severe burns. I would research it quite a bit before attempting it, especially on a child.

    I had that problem as a child. Now I use similan drops ear, over the counter ear drops, swimmers ear ear drops, antifungal ear drops, earache ear drops, ear drops for ringing ears, ear drops and I wash my ears out with a bulb syringe and warm water regularly. Haven't had to see a Dr for it in years.

    The candling that I have seen is used with a paper plate to prevent burns/drippings/etc.

    I had a friend do it and she said it worked.

    Either way, I would definitely just do what the doctor recommends.
