    Parenting Escape! (aka: date night)

So between trying to make time for our significant others & having the extra $ to actually go out & do something fun, what does everybody do? Any clever, low cost things that you all do to escape to have "adult" time?

We are very lucky that our 16 yr old is usually willing to babysit our 8 year old. My super wonderful Hubby came up with "Redneck Drive In". We have access to private ground down by the river & only 5 minutes from the house. Portable DVD player, rent a movie or two, snacks & an adult beverage *POOF* our very own drive in. It may sound corny, but it's actually very fun. It's dark, quite, no Mom, he/she's picking on me, Mom, can I have/do this... Even with running the truck on & off for heat, it's a lot cheeper than going to the theater!

So lets hear you parenting excape plans!

That's what I was going to say. I was promised going to see breaking dawn part 2, a month before it came out. I still haven't seen it and I don't even think it's in theaters anymore. Another movie I'll have to wait till it comes on dvd to see. Now I'm been promised he'll take me to see "this is 40" but I'm not holding my breath

Does a trip to the pigpen to re-weld their feeder with no accompanying kids (because they are afraid we'll make them shovel out the pen) count?

We were supposed to have Tuesdays together (hubby and I both are off-work) but I agreed to watch a friend's 2 kids, so we take care of someone else's kids while ours are at school.

LOL @ everybody! Ok, here are your orders for the New Years weekend, find a sitter (or try duck tape & a dog kennel, it will keep them quite & confined for a few hours) Get a DVD that you want to see & try a Redneck Drive In night. Heck, you can do this in your own driveway or behind the barn. Even if you only get an hour & a half, it's worth it! Or you can send a postage paid box & I can UPS my 16 year old for babysitting. LOL

Oh hey! That means we had a date too! While on vacation earlier this month someone plowed into our rental van and it needed to be exchanged, our friend kept both our girls while hubby and I drove 45mins each way to get the new one. We ate dinner while driving, so there we go, we had a date!

My date nights are during lunch hours.
When the girls are in school...hubby takes me to A&W for lunch.
    Does that count?????
