The silly things WE do as parents?

There is a fantastic thread going of silly things our kids do... but what have YOU or your partner done that amazingly hasn't traumatized you kid(s) to a degree that you worried how they will turn out in the end??

I'll start with one - Early last year one of the fish was erm.. doing the backstroke. So she says to me what is the fish doin.. and I reply he was sleeping. She looks at me and says - Mommy, he's dead, don't be silly!

So anyway, move on a few months and one of her kitten's has a fight with a car... I'll let you guess who won. I decide, being the brainbox that I am, that if she could handle a fish being dead she can handle a kitten being dead. WRONG!!! The only thing that stopped her crying was my little lad grabbing her sweets off her. She still has random moments of crying saying she misses her kitten Major major parenting fail.

Stop for a minute, open your mind, learn. You may not agree with what I say, I may not agree with what you say but we will both learn something new.

Did one just yesterday.
I often sit on the couch doing work on my computer.
My 9 year old was sitting next to me yesterday when I cruised over here to HF and opened up a hilarious political thread going on.
Part of the reason it is so funny is because we are all posting funny and silly (but not generally vulgar) pics pointed at a particular member.
While it is all light hearted and fun, a few of the pics are really shocking in a funny way.
(Well, ok… there is one really shocking pic by one member *cough… cough FLYGAP cough* …but the rest aren’t too bad.)
So, anyway open goes the thread and up pops a picture of a big nose with long braided hair hanging out. Then another of a grown man with a crying baby head superimposed on it.
I busted out laughing (it makes sense on that thread) which drew my son’s attention to the computer.
Yep, he got an eye full of those and immediately followed it with questions only a 9 year old could come up with. I had to close the computer really quickly!
It was a real smack myself in the forehead moment.

I allowed my, at the time 4 year old son, watch some of the colts get gelded. He still shivers when anyone even mentions gelding lol

Oh boy, where do I start! 1st Lockwood, I did the exact same thing this morning, LOL.

Let's see, for some strange reason I was thinking the 9 yr old no longer believed in the tooth fairy. BIG mistake! The tooth fairy ended up getting stuck at the tooth fairy convention, and would visit the next night.

I'm sure I'll think of some more later.

My two little ones were having a fight, so I told them to hug each other, then they decided they were not going to hug nicely, so I told them they have to stand and hug for a whole five minutes, after that failed, I decided that one had to sit on the kitchen floor and hug the trash can and the other had to hug the table leg for ten minutes ......needless to say they hug EVERYTIME now....

A real parenting low.....

FUNNY GUYS!

Yeah Lockwood, E keeps asking whats so funny... Ummm nothin.
Then DH asked me why I was smiling at my phone, darn Redpony!!! LOL!!

Busy I had a TF accident! Wish I had read that before...
Our first night, it was unexpected... All we had was a $20! So she gets the $20 but I forget that "How much did you get?!" is the first question you ask a kid when you see it gone! I had to explain when the teachers gave me the evil eye at school...
Next time I forgot, just went to bed. Next morning when she was crying I told her she was sleeping too heavily on the pillow. That wasn't NICE! What was I thinking!
So that night I reach in my purse... $10 BILL!!! CRUD! So the teachers all asked again and they laughed and said at least it wasn't a $20...

Today E comes outside early while we were cleaning a deer. I thought she'd sleep in. So she's fine with it for a bit, and acts like it's cool when she watched me hack it up on the counter... Until we cooked it for dinner!
Didn't touch it, and cried. Poor kid.

You can get a lot further with a ladder than you can with crutches!!
What do you mean what do I mean?
