im interesting in halter classes but.

so i really wanna do halter with my QH gelding hes papered and looks amazing hes my profile pic. he does get stiff in the back left leg and it clicks. and he doesnt like to pick up a trot. he has a nice jog with an amazing head set.

i was wondering how to get him to pick it up? and how to keep him at a trot? and if i could some how explain why hes stiff? im planing on getting him joint supplements MSM from smartpak. for his leg.

also what would i have to get to be in it like halter and lead with apparel? and places to get them?

A vet would best tell you what is wrong with your horse's leg.

It sounds like he is lame, and you might want to figure that out before trying to show him.

I'd definately look into getting him sound before showing. If the judge notices that he is not moving pain free (for whatever reason) you can be excused from the ring.

As far as equipment you will need a leather halter and lead. For very small local shows a plain leather halter will be fine, but as you get more serious you get about showing halter you may want to invest in a nice quaility halter with some silver.

There is no point in showing a lame horse in halter. I would get his leg looked at and see if it can be treated before worrying about showing.
Does he jog willingly under saddle? Does he lead next to you on a loose shank when leading at a walk?
To find show tack, you can find decent deals on line if you just want something for low level shows. Even for smaller shows, a halter with "silver" is the norm.
For yourself, at lower lovel shows, jeans will work but pressed dress/show pants are better. Don't forget to have a properly shaped hat. For your upper body, you can go with a western shirt, but to be taken seriously, a good jacket is a worthwhile investment. eBay has a lot of sellers with reasonable prices.

If he shows lame trotting on the lead then Halter then can't show halter either, They are judged on conformation plus moving sound & freely. The judge worth anything will excuse a lame horse from the ring.

hes not lame the vet checked him out and hes fine!!! thank you very much.

he will jog willingly in the saddle loose reins, he will walk right next to me in halter and when i had my derssage whip out i taped him a few times and he would trot next to me but he is a stubbern horse always has been. he trots out in the pasture all the time and he doesnt look like hes troting weird or anything.

Well from your original post/ first description ,sounds like a horse with soundness issues & From the responses here that is the way others interpret it to be.:?
