Question about registering a horse

The dam is a registered Standardbred. The sire is registered APHA. I do not think it is possible to register the horse via APHA because the mother is a gated breed. And I know she can not go Standardbred. So, is my horse registerable all?

If so where?

I do not plan on breeding her. Showing her, yes, but down the line. I want to have her in my name, on paper...

hmmmmm, my guess would be no. Unless there is a 1/2 or appendix type registry with either standardbred or APHA, but I dont' think there is.

Just call the APHA registry. They will be more than happy to answer our questions and send you in the right direction.

You could register her to the palomino or buckskin association if she is one of those two colors. Or the Trail Riders. There are plenty of non-breed associations that you can register your horse to.

possible pinto?

If she has color like a paint, you can register and show her with the ptHA (pinto horse assoc.)

I know you can register in the Pinto Horse Association, even if she doesn't have color (breeding stock) - however, since I have a quarter-type (stock) horse, I'm just not sure about gaited horses. I don't see why not though! Go to their website and read the rules or email them, they are very helpful!

Well, no, she only has a belly spot.

Thank you all

If it's big enough to meet the requirement you can register her pinto.

You cannot register her with APHA unless both parents are APHA registered. If she has Pinto markings you can register her with the Pinto Horse Association.
