I just got the news that my first ever horse, whom I have had since I was young, is going to be put down in the next few weeks. She is 37 years old and has recently declined in her weight and soundness. She hasn't had a completely sound day in a few months.
We used to ride her up until about 2 years ago when we moved and could not take her with us. During the 9 months we lived in New Mexico, moved there from TN, we were boarding her at a friend's place. Said "friend" wasn't completely honest with us. Our mare was supposed to be in a paddock with one other horse, a much younger, non-dominant gelding, and fed senior feed two or three times a day. When we came back for a visit in Janurary, we found that she was not being fed what we were being told and that she was in a paddock with the gelding and a very dominant mare. The younger horses were teaming up against her and not letting her have any hay, which was of poor quality not even suitable for bedding much less eating. This made the second time this mare had been starved almost to death. The first time was before we rescued her and she bounced back from that fine. She was the kind of horse who could look at grass and gain weight. She hasn't been the same since she left our "friend's" place. She is hard to keep weight on, almost impossible. She has had constant soundness issues since. We have finally decided to put her down. We didn't want to before, because even though she looks in really bad shape, she was still happy as can be and eating as much as ever. We honestly don't think she will make it through the winter. So, we have decided that this will be the best option for everyone involved.
Cookies to those of ya'll who actually read all that.
I am wanting to get my first tattoo sometime in the near future. I am wanting it to be a memorial of sorts for her. She is a retired barrel racer and I am wanting that incorporated somehow. What I'm wanting is a black and white tattoo of the outline or silhouette of a barrel racer and her horse turning a barrel. I have searched online and cannot find anything close to what I want. I figured that out of the numerous great artists on here, I could find someone that is capable of drawing what I want. I would prefer a tribal-type look, but would consider anything as long as it looks good. I am thinking about getting it on my left shoulderblade on my back.
barrel racer and horse turning barrel
black and white, not full color
outline, silhouette, or tribal design (no facial features required)
the name Justice and November 2011 somewhere
If you can do this or know somebody who can, please let me know. This will most likely be my only tattoo and it will mean a lot to me.
Where is the tattoo going to be on your body?
Can you find a photo (doesn't have to be sillhouette, just something with an outline that you like) that you could post to give us a better idea of the pose you desire?
If you have no luck on the forum, you can also get your tattoo artist to assemble something for you. If you even found some photos of the sillhouette you like, a good artist can usually edit them with their own artistic abilities to make the tattoo exactly how you want. :P
just post some pics of you horse ill give it a try.
I found this picture online a while ago and it's been saved on my computer for quite some time. I'm not an artist, so I'm not sure how you could incorporate a rider into it (a barrel should be relatively easy), though I'm sure if you took a picture of a barrel racer to a tattoo artist and explained, they could work something out for you.
The tattoo will be going on either my left or right shoudler. In the shoulderblade area. I figured that having a tattoo there would make it easier to cover if need be.
Poseidon- That is exactly what I was thinking for the horse. Now, if I could find someone that could add in the rider and barrel.
I know it's a car decal but is this more of what you're looking for?
I like that decal a lot. Actually, that is almost exactly what I had in mind. I wonder how it would look with just the outline of the barrel.
I mocked this up for you real quick.
Thank you so much. That is exactly what I was wanting. :)
Be careful, think twice, and please remember this scripture. Leviticus 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
