Help with thinning comb

Help! I need someone to tell me how to properly use a thinning comb. I just bought one and have never used on before. I tried running it through my mare’s mane and nothing!

I think that a thinning comb is bascially a knife with comb teeth. You would actually be cutting the mane by little chopping motions withe the comb at the desired length. But I am not for sure, hopefully someone who really knows will respond.

Heck, one of my horses has a long, natural mane, the other is roached. LOL What do I know about trimmed manes?

I know how to use one..... start at the base of the horse's neck, and grab a small section of hair (about an inch wide) and basically scrape off the exess. Hold the hair just below how short you want it (I say you start at the very bottom so you have extra room!). It's hard to describe. I did Sambo's mane with a thinning comb, and it is a little uneven. It's hard to get it level with their neck. Just be careful! I scraped my finger while thinning Sam's mane.

Good luck!
