How to use a blocker tie ring?
Here's the problem:

The stable I board at has these for tying so I used it and my horse simply moved back enough so the rope slipped through it and he was FREE! So the next time I tied him I tied him to the post with a "quick release" knot. Well he got spooked and pulled back but I couldn't release the knot fast enough and he pulled back so hard his halter came off.

Aren't the blocker tie rings suppose to help with a horse that pulls back? How do I use them to stop pulling back?

The amount of tension can be adjusted by adding another loop through the peg or even flipping the lead rope over the top of the rope leading towards your horse. Your BO should show you how to use them. Also the type of rope you use can make a difference.
Look on YouTube for instructions as it's kind of hard to explain.
