Patomic Horse Feaver- is it contagous

A horse in my barn may have Patomic Horse Feaver (I think that is what is is called). I am wondering of I should be taking precautions with my horse. Is it contagious if my horse is exposed to the infected horses saliva or manure?

It's not HIGHLY contagious, but your horse can only get it if it were to eat the infected horse's feces. ;)

Infection from eating contaminated feces is pretty unlikely, but it is possible. Otherwise, transmission of PHF from horse to horse isn't a serious threat. It's the environmental factors that create the risk.
