im looking at a new show saddle but need help i haven't heard much about theses new flex trees? has anyone used them good bad? i understand the idea of them but humm I'm looking at a tex-tan but didn't realize until today it is a flex tree. I figure its a Tex Tan should be a good saddle but im not sure...I'm a fluffy rider is it going to be a problem? and as the tree flex's is it going to not keep its value? i dont want to spend all that money for something that isn't worth it. PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks

Hi - the flex tree saddles can be nice - or not, depending on the build of both yourself and your horse, as well as your riding abilities and natural balance.

Since you describe yourself as "fluffy" I'll generally advise against the flex-tree, it does not provide the same level of stability and weight distribution that a regular saddle tree does, which can lead to problems down the road. Also, you don't want a flex tree if you are interested in events such as roping, because flex tree saddles just aren't designed to be pulled against by a cow or other animal. If you regularly pony horses behind your horse, this can also be a consideration.

On the other hand, flex trees can be fantastic for horses that are hard to fit a saddle on, and if you are well balanced in the saddle with a good seat (minimal bouncing), you should be able to ride in it comfortably.
