Thats at my feed store to. I haven't tried it, but I use stablized Rice Bran, and my black horse is dappled/shiny throughout the whole year, including winter with her thick coat, so I would defiantly recommend Rice Bran, but it does help gain weight, so if your horse is a easy keeper it may not be the best idea. You could also get regular Flax, probably cheaper than the Simply Flax.

<-------------I use the stabilized rice bran meal for both my 2 year old and weanling and they have healthy coats and healthy weight.. I don't use the maximum recommended "dose" and can see a difference

I get mine at Tractor Supply, do you know why your horse lost weight?
There must be a reason for it.. I'd say make sure he's wormed on regular basis, feed good quality alfa alfa mix hay, some sort of senior feed (do your research) and add it the rice bran.. Also when I got my now 2 yo a year ago very thin, I fed her extra well soaked alfa-alfa cubes and that got weight on her really well, but you must let your horse get used to the alfa-alfa gradually.

Oh yes... I forgot about the worming part, and even if he is wormed regularly, I would get a fecal egg check by your vet, those sneaky worms sometimes work out ways to evade the wormers. And also, have his teeth been checked by a vet? Thats a common problem about why horses loose weight. I just got my rice bran at the regular livestock feed store.

Have you asked? They could have it at the back of the storage some where, rice bran is typically pretty common.
