she is 1/2 American Paint but what else do you see?

btw she's got flat hooves, if that tells you anything.. ?

i've been told that she has arabian qualities and characteristics by a couple professional people i'm surrounded by.

Any signs of gaiting?

flytobecat 11-07-2011 09:59 PM

Yeah, her back end in some pictures kind of looks like a foxtrotter's

nope never gaited. she has a very extended trot, that i can sometimes pull into collecting.

thank you sooo much! btw i do not have a good picture that shows it but she has a slight dishing in of the face.

here's a somewhat better picture of her hind end. it has filled out a bit more, this was when i first got her.

also she has the high held tail, not quite as though, and she also pulls it up & curls it over when eliminating and what not.

I see nothing in her to suggest Arabian. I'm thinking either a gaited cross (and many half-breeds won't gait) or even a fullblooded stock horse/Paint, just of less than stellar pedigree.

that was my original thought i know for a fact that Paint is the vast majority of her, but the questionable other parts are what boggles me. thank you! (:

My friend's newest horse, Pistol, is a full-paint, registered APHA and everyone at fair this year went around and around that he must be part Arabian. From what I understand, there isn't one parent at least 5 generations back that has Arabian in them. He has the slightly dished face, high headset, the stereotyped high-strungness, and a higher tail carriage. He actually looks very similar to your mare, aside from the fact he's bay with a different pattern.
