Sitting a Bumpy Trot: Bareback.
Specs usually has a decent trot, but when I work him into a canter he goes into this super choppy-pony trot right before we go into the canter, which sends me flying everywhere. I can sut his norm trot really well and sit the canter pretty decently too, but just not his 'transition chop-trot'... what I call it.
Got any advice for me?

Roll the top of your pelvis back as tho trying to sit on your back pockets. Your back will be quite rounded. You will need to lean back a bit as well so grab a little mane. Really relax so you don't engage any lower back muscles. This will make the rough trot seem smoother. We used to have trotting races when bareback and found out that this position was the only way to ride and hope to stay on.
