What Questions to Ask Someone Wanting to Buy my Horse? Help ASAP!
I need to know what questions I should ask potential buyers. I'm selling my miniature colt (And I know the market isn't the best right now and all that. Just please don't even mention it :-() and although I'm not going to be extremely picky about who he goes too I don't want him to go to someone who doesn't know anything about horsekeeping. So what questions do I ask that are polite but can assure Peanut (the colt) is going somewhere where he'll be in good hands? I'm needing to get him gone and I have someone I'm going to call so I need some answers ASAP! Thanks for any suggestions :-)!

Some people may be offended and turned off by this, but you can always ask for veterinarian and farrier references. Or you can insist on delivering him to their property, but again, it runs the risk of pissing them off and killing the deal.

I've asked if I could go out and see their property first before anything is signed. It hasn't ticked anybody off yet, most people are willing if they want the horse. I've aloo asked for first right of refusal in the past.

See if you can go out and see their set up and just talk to them about horse care. You'll get a pretty good idea about their knowlege level. The rub comes in when they know what to do, just choose not to doit. I've run into this recently and had to repo a horse that was being starved.
