Why does everyone dislike arabs so much? I have been riding and showing them for over 10 years now and they are my favorite. They are the most versital with over 10 different types of classes all of which are then broken down between pure and half bred, rider age, youth, adult, and pro. They are spirited but are also easy to handle. I know many that can go from the show ring to having a child on their back, they will go over bridges, and can work in an open field, and can also work with big trucks coming on the property. I know an arab stallion that won a national championship with a 13 year old in a native costume class after the stirrup and leather has come off in the class for the 2nd time (you are only allowed 1 time out). If you don't know what native costume is then see image below. It's a blast to ride! I guess people just don't understand the arab world as well as they think they do.

I have the utmost respect for arabians. :D They are just not on my short list of horses that I personally would concider to buy for myself. I happen to be like the ONLY person on here that has ridden almost exclusively one breed of horse. a QH. My sister owned an arabian for years and she loved him dearly. I have just never diversified. BUT...the ones like in the picture you posted are very pretty indeed. I would never ride like that. I am just a trail ridding gal...and not even hard

I love arabs. My first horse was almost going to be an arab. I love that photo you posted. Those costumes are incredible

Alot of people are against arabs, but then it seems they are agaisnt the Quarter Horses, Shetland Ponies, Walkers, Paso Finos, ect. Personally, I dont have anything against arabs. Sure, they can be highstrung but what breed cant be? I have never met a breed that does have horses that are competly tranquil. Arabs are nice horses. Very versitile, lovable and loyal. The thing I like about them is that they are smaller and petite but are tough. My mare is part Arab and that helps her be a great endurance horse. It all depends on what peope have been brought up with/or just all around like. You cant get on people about hating Arabs because alot of the same people hate different breeds for the same reasons. You know what I mean? :)

I guess that kind of raises the question on why people are so biast against Appaloosas, Quarter Horses, Shetland Ponies, Paso Finos, Walkers, ect. Every breed has their haters, and lovers amoung them. Just some people take it too far but we cant take that to heart, although it is sometimes hard. lol Personally, I dont have anything against the arabs. They are tough, enduring horses. They might have a label of being hot and "crazy", but I have met alot of horses of different breeds that are crazy too. Their are some from every breed, no matter what people say. Arabs are very showy, and seem to know that alot of people like to watch them lol. People should watch what they say and make sure they say what they need to comment within reason. :)

When I first fell in love with horses when I was little, Arabians were my all-time favourite breed. I thought they were so beautiful and graceful with their high-held tails and dishy faces. The first horse I took lessons on was an Arabian. He was really lazy though. Other Arabs haven't been my favourite horses to ride because they all seemed to have bumpy gaits. After that I started leaning towards Quarter Horses, because I rode a QH mare, Tessa, for 3 years in lessons. Now I have a Tb! Haha. But I think Arabians are beautiful. Most of them that I have seen though are used on trails and stuff. I would love to see an Arab do dressage. :P

I do not have any reason to disrespect them. But i think they are ugly because they just seem very unproportional. And i am not one for the like dipped nose that most of them have. But i wouldnt know anything about their temperment and how they ride. So i can not really say that i love them or hate them

i have to say that they´re not my fav. breed but i certainly don´t dislike them ! im not in love with the way they look, im more into stockier horses ! once this was my least fav. breed but for such a silly reason im not even gonna tell you about it
but for the right group of people these are prob. the most perfect beeings in the world, and i can sure understand that

*shrug* I don't dislike them at all. As long as its tall enough, I'll ride it. I guess I prefer polish, since they tend towards more height and bone. I agree with Jubilee that a number of the ones I've ridden were rough-gaited (esp. at the trot), but others were very smooth. They were either one or the other; no in-between :P Never had any training issues, I actually appreciate their sensitivity in that respect: all the arabs I've worked with pick up leg aids in a snap. Not really sure were the prejudice comes from.
