He Hates Her
As of recently, I've gotten an at home coach. She's a friend of the family and the best coach I've had in years. There's only one problem; my gelding hates her. I've never seen him run in the opposite direction of the barn before. Just last week she was lunging him and he was being fussy and turned his rear end to her and tried to kick her, which is very odd behavior because in the time I've had him I have never, not once seen him kick or even threaten to kick anyone. Even when she gets on to ride him to show me something he bucks, but when I get on he's a perfect little angel and just does whatever I ask! He's such an odd duck.
There are some people and horses that just don't gel unfortunately, my dad's horse throws me pretty much every time I ride her! We just don't work, when trying horses out I saw this lovely horse and just couldn't make it move, just didn't gel.
Maybe for the safety of your friend you need to rethink this working relationship?
I used a trainer once (for couple months). My paint tried to bite her whenever she was too close to us. My qh tried to smack her with the tail every time she had a chance, intentionally, and very hard (even the trainer commented on that). They both are fine with my current one though.
