Bare back pads?
I'm looking at buying a bareback pad because I LOVE riding bareback. I have never used one before and I had a few questions.
1. Do the stirrups cause any harm to the horses back? I heard that it causes extra strain to their back.
2. Is there a certain thickness to the pad that I should look for? (thin, thick)
The stirrups can cause pressure points as nothing but a small part of the pad supports them and since their is not much rigidity to the pad, the stirrups can make the pad slide around on the horses back similarly to how a loose cinch can make a saddle slide around.
They also kind of defeat the purpose of bareback IMO
If you horse has a bony spine then look for a thicker pad, other than that, get what ever is comfortable for you.
okay got it! thanks for the great advice
