Olds College
I really want to go to Olds College. But I'm not really sure about how good the education is...

Did anyone go there?

Are you talking about Olds College in Alberta?

If so, it's really an amazing school. Amazing agricultural programs and equine programs. I personally don't go there but tons of my friends do, and I know the head of the equine program (she's amazing). They do a lot more hands-on things and everyone I know who's gone there comes out with a job waiting when they graduate. I highly recommend going there!

What program are you looking at going into?

Yeah the one in Alberta :)

I want to take the Equine Science 2 year diploma and then maybe the Farrier 2 years too.

Good to hear she is amazing! I really hope I can get in!

Okay good! I wasn't sure if there was another Olds College out there haha.

Both programs you are interested in are wonderful, my friend is in the Equine Science one right now and is loving it. She says they do a lot of off-campus activities and learns about stuff in the real world. Alberta has a huge horse based industry so Olds really takes advantage of that. They just went to Spruce in Septemeber and did a bunch of stuff there, she said she's never learned so much! Olds also hosts a ton of clinics and non-program seminars, they really are wonderful whatever program you go into!

My farrier I have now did the Farrier program at Olds and he is wonderful. He competed in the world farrier competition at the Calgary Stampede and finished 2nd or something like that? He also has like a million clients, in and around Calgary has a high demand for certified farriers.

Yeah, Cathy Chalack is the head of the equine/riding programs. She trains all over and breeds sport horses and ponies at her farm in Red Deer. And I really think you'll have no problem getting in. They have been recruiting for new students for the 2012 year. :) good luck!!

That sounds awesome! How many students get into the program?
And thanks :) I can't wait until I graduate! My mom said we can fly to Alberta for my birthday to get tested! (Thats if the accept my application)

Oh no... I don't know what major to take...

I want to do the western one, but I want to do the English one, AND I want to do the Equestrian Coaching!

What to choose?
