Today's lesson was good
So today i rode one of the school horses for my lesson. I ride my horse all the time...but today i decided to ride someone else.
So i rode this buckskin qh gelding. I havent ridden in a long time. Now the trainer is going back to using him again. So hes a tad out of shape. So she lunged him first.
As he was trotting around and around...he had this floaty trot going on...so that made me a bit nervous. Then she lunged the horse the other direction and he went back to this normal trot. So that made me feel better.
So then i finally get on and we're walking around a few times. Then we start off by trotting the top half of the arena. I thought he felt a little bouncy. But i was able to figure out his movement...it was all good.
So we did figure eights of the whole arena at the trot.
Then at the end of the lesson,we did some jumping. It was just trotting over 2 cross rails. He was really good going over the jumps. I get a little nervous about jumping..so he made me feel better about it.
This qh is a good boy.
maybe i will ride him again next week or go back to my horse...
here is a head shot of the horse that i rode for my lesson today.
Anybody want to reply? please?
He looks cute :)
I think it's great that you chose to ride another horse, every horse teaches you something different, brings confidence and overall you become a better rider. Your horse probably appreciated the day off :P But I'm sure he missed you too.
How long have you been riding for?
Thank you for your reply. I like your side picture.
Ive been riding for 21years. :)
I am soooo sore from my lesson yesterday. ::sigh::
I dont think my horse missed me. he has a new girlfriend. ;)
Thanks, lol gotta love trail shots :)
Oh wow!! That's a long time! I've only been riding for 9.. but I am still pretty new to it all. It's hard to find a good trainer..
Yeah tell me about it! I'm learning about two-point lol.. need I say more? xP
What did you mean by "floaty" trot in your post, though..?
hmmm.... he was doing an extended trot...like you would see in dressage..
And that made you nervous?
i havent ridden him in a longggggg time. So i wasnt used to his movements. But once he was lunged in the other direction he went back to his normal trot.
Then when i got on him..i got used to his trot and i was fine.
