When to bathe a horse?
I was wondering if someone could help me on when its okay to give a horse a bath. I want to give my horse a bath because she hasnt been bathed in a long time and is really dirty. It is suppose to be 57 - 62 degrees today. Its inside a barn and has hot water. I have blankets for if I should need to put one on. So I was wondering if it would be okay to give her a bath or should it wait. Thanks
You sound like you're good to go! I don't bathe my mare often, mainly because of laziness and she doesn't like it very much. But as long as you have heated water and lots of towels you should be fine! I know my friend bathes her horse almost every week. You only need to watch out about bathing too much (like every day) because you'll take away their natural oils. :)
I agree, sounds like you are set to go.
I bathed 2 of mine on Friday and it was about 63 degrees (inside with warm water also), but afterwards, they went outside to dry in the sun with no blanket and were very comfortable. I'd go for it!
It's around 60 here today, and my horses are standing in the rain.
Should I soap them down?
