whats next?
ok so my mare i have been retraining but VERY SLOWLY!..but i wanted to know what i should do next.

i know i need some...make that A LOT of touching up on things. the will walk and trot on command but im needing some help with the canter.she will very slightly move off legs but only if she wants to go that particular all in all im asking for advice on

1. how to *touch up* on these few things
2. what should i work on next.

mind you all im not a a 13 year old girl who has never retrained a horse before.and i must say i have gotten quite far in the past couple months. (well not really)
she used to have the worst bucking fits, she was so dependent on the other horses..(in other words i couldn't lead on the trail because she just stood there and she couldn't be tied up by herself with out flipping out) , and she would just stand there when she didn't want to go anywhere while riding, AND she used to kick, not pick up feet, girthy, and used to just be a nasty umm...MARE!.so im just asking for advice.and please be nice about it. :) i am the person whos training her and no one else..shes not exactly my horse to train so don't tell me i should get a trainer..because its not happenin!

also one more thing...when im out in the paddock to catch her...i can get to her and put on her halter and lead but then she just stands i can pull, push and do whatever but she won't go ANYWHERE!! i know i should be taking her out to just groom and stuff so she thinks that coming out isn't so bad afterall, but i don't have time to do that.i work at another barn and i have things to do there.and besides that...this mare is like a half hour away from my house so i can't have my mom drive me out there all the time.

i am the only person to even think about walking behind her or do cousin flips out if i ask her to pick her hooves because she thinks shes the same mare she used to be and will kick her in the face. i keep telling her..just sake her for a quick ride and i promise you will have so much fun! shes NOT THE SAME!!

well, for the not moving thing, pull her sideways, then once her leg moves get going! And don' t look at her when you are leading her :)

I agree with MooMoo.

It worked really well for my 4 yr old mare i used to own.

right on, that's exactly what i do with all the colts, and if they still don't move i go beside them and swat them on the butt with the lead while i'm still facing forward and walking beside the horse
