Conformation critique for Appaloosa gelding
I see a horse with a very sweet face/head. I really like his eye. He has some nice tail for an Appy too, so many times you see Appy's really challenged in the tail department.
He is a little butt high, and personally I think his legs are a bit too straight, but that's just my opinion. I know in some disciplines this is actually a plus. I also think his shoulder is a little flat, and he looks a little swayback to me. The back could be an age thing, you haven't said his age and this could be a "growing" thing if he's a youngster or an age thing if he's an older horse. His neck is also a bit cresty, at what age was he gelded?
If he were my horse I would work on muscling him up and building up his topline. I really see a potentially athletic horse in there with the right kind of conditioning. A little hefty for jumping, but a good stout trail horse, and maybe WP.
Is he registered and if so can you post a link to his pedigree? He looks very drafty to me - either a draft cross or maybe some old foundation Appy with draft mixed in. I wouldn't want to assess his conformation without knowing just what he is...
no critique but hes super cute! wish my app was that stocky.
Solid boned horse . back legs a bit posty, knees are a very tiney bit back, neck his short with a slightly thick throatlatch. Cute face, strong shoulder but somewhat upright, front hooves seem to be low angle compared to pasterns.
Back seems a bit swayed, or maybe it's just that the pelvis seems to have rocked forward a little. Well sprung ribs. Overall a sturdy looking horse for trails and such.
He is here for training, I have no idea other than "Appy" of what he is. He is six years old and 15hh. Seems he has a bit of a bucking issue with everyone but me. We are having the chiropractor out to take a look - I can almost see it in the photos but in person his last three ribs are easy to feel on the right side. You can see his hip is more pronounced. In the photos of his left side he is much fuller/more well rounded so I think something is "out" on him. I guess we'll see. Over all he is a decent little horse though.
