Ever Been Told Can't?
What have you or your horse accomplished that people or just anyone has said you or your horse couldn't do?

After breaking my pelvis when I was 13 I always told myself I could never break my own horse considering I'd probably fall off in attempt to do so..fortunatly I didn't listen..went and got a 3 yr old unbroke barely halter trained apendix qh stud..did what I had to do to gain trust from both sides..and hopped on one day...fortunatly I couldn't have asked for a better fella...hasn't offered to buck [until recently(different diet with more sugar=fiesty horse)]. I think the biggest skeptic that I've ever had was myself...but I always find a way to prove me wrong! [: If I don't I suck it up and move on to something new!
I just did a 25 mile endurance, (actually LD) ride in South carolina alone, on a still fairly green trained horse, and I am a fairly green trained rider. Horse had had 2 weeks off and not alot of miles. I had lots of naysayers,
Oh i should go watch one, I should go with someone that knows the ropes, Its to far, yadda yadda,,, and then soem that kinda hurt,,,, "Oh that's easy we ride that all the time," Yeh Bull. They think they do because since buying my GPS I have found that all the rides we go on are severely overestimated in distance. The normal park ride we do labled as 12 miles is only 8, a couple 20-22 mile trail rides are actually only 16.
But we made the trip down, (5 hour drive) completed the ride, survived the trip passed the vet checks alive and well.
Next stop? a 50 miler.
Took a $250.00 quarab 2 1/2 year old unbroke horse without any trainer to grand prix dressage.
I took a 4 yr old barrel racing QH whom was absolutely CRAZY and im about to take her to her first showmanship competition in a few weeks.
Are you kidding? That's my favorite sentence! Nothing motivates me more than someone telling me what me or my horse can't do. We haven't done anything that would rattle the universe, but something as simple as being told my horse will refuse that scary jump over there is enough for me to go over and prove the person wrong. Luckily my horse likes that sentence as much as me. He seems to like proving people wrong as much as I do!
"Can't" keep him with any other horses. When I borrowed a previous breeding stallion, that had been gelded. He stayed alone at my place for a month, then my horse can back from "jump school". I monitored them, saw my horse (his son in fact), was the bossy one & nothing major happened so I figured they worked it out. In fact I liked having the father/son combo so much I bought the dad. Not really my accomplishment, more the horses ability to get along, but I went against the owner's wishes & put them in together. I suppose I would have be liable if they fought & her horse was injured, but I can tell if something of that nature would be likely to happen.
i was told i cant be better than this one chick at riding but i placed higher than her in a western pleasure event :D
Could never ride him
Could never be on him bareback
Could never get him to stop rearing/bolting/etc.
Could never ride outside
Could never, could never, could never....
I am so competitive and LOVE challenge so I took those statements and turned them into positive CANs.
And I think everyone should! Makes you feel so good!
I was told I would never walk again after a xc incident. Then after I started riding again I was told that the mare I bought would never trust me and she was impossible to train. Then I was told I would never qualify for the american eventing championchips...
