Impromptu flying lesson...
Well..todays ride was..interesting. I was going out for a meal with my dad's bowling group (still went in the end, a few beers will kill or cure!) so I debated wearing a helmet to save time as I thought heck, I won't have to get another hair wash. Glad I did wear it!!
Warmed up fine, first transition to trot was like a rocket, no problems after that and she worked beautifully for 20 minutes. Coming on a 20m circle on the right rein, I asked with my inside leg for more action with her inside hind, no. So I asked more firmly with leg, and buck. I hung on for the first one, despite being able to see the sand, and the second one she bucked and spun. I didn't stand a chance. Landed firmly on my back in time to see her do a hapy buck.
So I got up, got hold of her, didn't say a word, and didn't cry which is a first...normally I bawl, got to the mounting block and got on. And then we worked. She tried being more frisky so used vocal and leg commands to send her on, no problems.
All I can say is falling from that heigh has its bonus as you can plan your fall, however, it hurts upon impact! Little madam. I'm hoping this is a one off, but at least if thats her worst at no, we shouldn't have too many problems... I was caught completely unaware!
Did you at least get some good air time?
HAHAHA yep :) I should offer parachute jumps off my Duffy :O
Duffy, I am very glad that you are able to laugh about this. Hope you got the beers afterward.
Did you add in some cool big air tricks like toe touching or the splits?
Glad you're alright!
Lol I like your attitude! Glad your ok and worked out your horses little hissy fit

Unfortunately didn't land so well. My legs were paralyzed for several minutes before I could get up and hobble around.
Normally I don't laugh, thats the thing, I bawl my eyes out and put the horse away... but she's mine now, and she's a youngster, and sometimes the unexpected happens!
Stiff back this morning but nothing muscle rub cant sort out!
Spyder I wasn't expecting the spin, but at this time I am unsure whether she spun to get me off, or spun because she was about to crash us both in to another horse and or wall! Seems my horse does care about hitting school walls after all!
Have to see what this morning brings ;D
My favorite ones are when you fall head/elbows first into a wall after a less-than-brief flight (gives you lots of time to try to find a soft spot in the kickboards)... Or fly nearly horizontally without your landing gears down and leave a 5' long skid mark in the arena base with your face/shoulder/elbow/hip/knee... (at least the BO can't be mad at you for wrecking their base when you're still picking footing out of wounds and only sort of gimpling around after a week or two)
Yep falling off is not fun! Although I did get whiplashed last weekend pretty bad and that was not fun either and I was never even airborne! :P
Have a good ride!!
Glad you are OK!
