Do you think it's worth it?

Do you think this saddle is worth $440 with shipping [from Humboldt, Illinois to Ripley, Maine]? It's a Simco.

Whether or not the saddle is worth the price, I would not recommend buying a saddle without first being able to try it on your horse & ride in it to ensure it fits both you and your horse. Getting a good price on a saddle is worthless if the saddle does not fit your horse properly. Your horse will end up sore (possibly even lame) and miserable.

Barrel saddles command higher prices because of the demand. The seller may bargain down to $425 including shipping. It is Xmas time and money quickly runs out.To me, that is all it's worth with shipping as the quality is definitely not high end.

I would try it out if I could, but I have looked around here and asked people and no one has used barrel saddles that they'd sell and if they do they are dramatically over priced. I'm sadly getting quite desperate. I know how to fit a saddle and obviously wont use it if it doesn't fit my mare. And we've made arrangements if it doesn't fit my horse that I can send it back and get my money back. But I have a few friends that are also looking for a barrel saddle. :-)

I feel about the same as Saddlebag. $440 would be at the high end of what it's worth.

The funny thing about where I live is that barrel saddles are HARDER to sell. Everyone out here ropes, not runs barrels, so roping saddles sell quick, barrel saddles sit around for a while.

I have seen these saddles sell on ebay for about $250 - $300 with shipping around $50. This is WAY overpriced.

Have you tried Tacktrader.com? You might find something closer to you that way.

No I haven't, thanks for the help!

Its high - I'd only pay $200-$300 total for it, personally.
