ummmm..help?

My horses front two hooves are like, peelling? the outer part near the frog there are pieces of hard hoof that are like sticking out and Im really worried. Thinking of calling the farrier but my more horse experienced friend said shed take a look and tell me what she thinks first as he only had his hoovess done about 2 weeks ago.\
Does anyone know what this may be, I'm trying to explain it best i can...

Best guess without pictures.... you're talking about the bars. The bars are part of the hoof wall located at the bottom of the foot and growing generally parallel to the frog. When overgrown, they can present that appearance of "sticking out". Generally ragged looking and will eventually fold/break over, laying against the sole on each side of the collateral clefts.

Simple and quick to clean up during a trim. Post some photos, marking the area of concern for better feedback.

Cheers,
Mark

Not sure if it's what you are asking about but what I see us the frog peeling away at the back of the hoof. They do shed their frogs if they don't get trimmed. Did your farrier do any trimming or just shoe the hooves? Doesn't look like he/she did much trimming of the sole or frog. Even with trimming, the frog on the outer part or back of the hoof can peel away. I don't see anything I would worry about except a shoddy trim job.

Ok is that all? So should I get the farrier out to fix it up? or will they come off. I wasnt there last time the farrier was out because I was 3 hours away and he needed new shoes so Im guessing it was only shoeing possibly?

From what I see, I don't think you need to have the farrier make a special trip out there. He should be ok until the next time the farrier comes out to trim.

I don't see anything other than a little loose frog tissue that could be cut away with a hoof knife. Ask the farrier to show you next time he is out and then you can buy yourself a hoof knife (or the farrier may have an old one) and you can then do the touch-ups yourself. :-)
