Hi,
This summer I got a horse whose previous owners couldent tell me what breed he was just that he was a mixed breed. A friend of mine and I think maybe he could have some hackney in him because hehas a very fast and high trot. Any ideas?

Looks Saddlebred-y to me. There doesn't appear to be any Hackney.

or it could be Tennessee Walker

I don't know what breed but he is beautiful!

What size is he? What sort of nature does he have?

If he has a high trot he might have hackeny blood in him or tennesse walking horse prehaps.

Hope you find out soon! You could always ask a vet

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Is he actually gaited, or does he just have high knee action at the trot? If he's not gaited, I would hazard a guess at a Standardbred, Thoroughbred, or Saddlebred cross.

He is 15.3 and sixteen years old.
He's really pretty relaxed and super sweet and affectionate.

I'm thinking appendix quarter. I know a few quarter horses and tbs with more action-y trots, so I wouldn't necessarily place a gaited breed. I know the paint/Clyde gelding I was training awhile ago had a very fast trot with lots of knee-action, even though I only got it when he didn't want to break into a canter.
But, if I were to place a gaited breed as a partial cross (most likely with a tb), I'd say either a walker or saddlebred.

Standardbreds are naturally gaited, though.

I think he looks thoroughbred.

My first impression was also that he is largely TB. He definitely has that look about him. Nice lookin guy.
