New drawing Critique?
I am doing this drawing for my sister for christmas and I was wondering if anyone could critique it so far?
Note: I straightened her face up a bit.
I will update as I progress
Mouth is great! ears accurate. Eye sufficiently large, but need more shading to tell more. bridle details
Bit too low in mouth ,. menaing mouth is too "short". Mouth is as long as the distance from edge of ear to eye. and the bit is then on the far inside of the mouth, so raise the bit about 20% higher.
Jaw is a wee bit too small. The overall shape of the pony's head is rather longish and lacking in a large jowl, like a qH would have, but your drawing is a bit TOO long and needs a tiney bit more jowl.
Overall, really getting close to accurate. I am very impressed on how much you have improved in the 6 months Ive been seeing your draw. Wish we could sit down over tea and draw together!
Thankyou Tinyliny I really love your advice I will change the mouth and then start on the shading :) I would love to sit down and draw you haha.
Heres my progress
I think I will just work on the mane a bit more than I wreckon I will leave it What do you guys think?
Here it is. Any critique? I am going to put it in a small frame so I would like to make any changes before then :D
I love it! I would add a little more shading to the bottom of his head, and the end of his lip, but really, that's just my personal preference, not actually a problem or anything. I think your sister will be over joyed to get this lovely picture!!
I like it too alot. Oooh all these picture threads make me wanna do some! Alas, I have to be wrapping Christmas presents instead...
I've come in late on this thread, but there is one thing I will point out - if you go to the original photo and hold up a pencil vertical from the edge tip of the horse's ear and follow down the pencil to where the horse's nose touches the pencil and then compare that to your own drawing for future reference.
However, the final picture looks very good so I don't see much wrong. Perhaps the muzzle is slightly too pointed on his top lip? But if you are content with it, then frame it. :-)
Thankyou! I will make little changes to it today then frame it for Christmas tomorow! :)
