icelandic food !
ok so you might think some of this is really gross, but remeber its just culture
most of this food is only eaten in the month ■orri (according to the old icelandic calendar its in late winter ! can┤t remeber excacly when) therefore the name of it is ■orramatur(thorrafood)
its dried fish ! reaaallyyy good with butter ! i eat this regularaly !
its icelandic haggis ! put some sheep intestines in a sheep stomache boil it and there you either have lifrapylsa(lifra=liver, pylsa=sausage) or blˇm÷r(blˇ=blood, m÷r=internal fat) ! i like lifrapylsa more and eat it often ! really good cold with milkrice but it is eaten both hot and cold !
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...gnyM/sltur.jpg blˇm÷r is the darker one !
yep, in iceland shark doesn┤t eat people, people eat shark ! but isn┤t shark poisenus ? not after beeing buried for a few months and then hung up for a few months ! Yep hßkarl is really rotten shark ! i don┤t really like it, but my sister does ! she used to be unstoppable while eating it !
svi is, get ready, singed sheep face ! :) yeah, we eat it ! my mom even loves eating the eye ! this is not something you eat regularaly though !
yeah, just jam made out of singed sheep faces ! whats there to say ? also not something you eat everyday !
s˙rsair hr˙tspungar(s˙rsair=pickled, hr˙ts=rams, pungar=testicles)
yeah, another thing i don┤t really like ! this is what most people think is the grossest ! the name really describes it all !
yeah, i don┤t really have any experience with those ! they are a bit on the rarer side !
couldn┤t find a pic :(
weird name ! this has nothing to do with puffin ! this is just sheep loins wrapped in meat from the sides ! i have never tried this
sorry, couldn┤t find a pic of this either :/
its really good ! with butter again ! everyday food !
lousy pic, but best i could find !
this is soooooo gooood ! i eat this as a lunch on chrismas *drooools* ! i want hangikj÷t now ! this is smoked lamb!
just panfried bread ! good with butter and hangikj÷t !
since im only 14 ive never had this ! but its just really strong booze !
ok ! im done now !
if you read this all you get ■orramat... err.. maybe just some cookies :D
and belive it or not, this made me hungry :D
Wow interesting looking food!! LOL that'd be cool if I could try some.
SHEEPY!!
Oh... I don't want hurt you but there's some dishes which I wouldn't eat here (for example Svi or s˙rsair hr˙tspungar) :(. I even stopped eat regular sausages when I heard what them includes.
But some of those dishes seems very good :). For example flatbread, rye bread, hangikj÷t, flatk÷kur sounds good.
Forgive me, but I would be into hear about traditional dishes of different countries. Could we talk about them in this topic? If you hadn't anything against it, could another users told something about their dishes?
I can give some traditional dishes in Finland. The two which comes to my mind first is karjalanpiirakat (Karelian pastries).
and karjalanpaisti (Karelian hot pot)
haha, you won┤t hurt me  i just love hearing about what people think of this :D !
i┤d also love hearing about traditional food in other countries !
those dishes look yummy :D
Never tried it no, but always up for something new.
I think it would be interesting to try :D
I'll try anything once, I cant guarantee that I would like it or it would stay down, but Id try it.
Oh, how could I forget mńmmi (rye pudding).
Most of Finnish eat it in Easter.
This was really cool sis! Thanks for sharing!
