Good Horse Colleges?

Anyone know of colleges with good equine programs?

I've heard lots of good things about Laramie County Community College (LCCC) in Wyoming. They're supposed to have very good horse programs (my trainer actually went through them) and are actually affordable.

I tried out for them earlier this year and I really like the Equestrian Team's coach, she's very nice. I just need to apply for more scholarships and head down to Wyoming for a second tryout and hopefully I'll be there later this year!

I wouldn't be going mainly for horse programs though- they'd be coming second to my degree.

I'll second Findlay. Fantastic school, my mom is an alum and we've sent several horses to college there over the years with great results. Their program is ran by an NRHA hall of fame inductee.

A friend of mine suggested Central Wyoming University, said that they to have a good equine program. Do you know if CWU does? I'll have to check out LCCC (;

Actually I have! I don't remember specifics, but this older couple (both into horses and ranch) both went to Central Wyoming University and LOVED it! Even though they've been living in Nebraska for a while now, they are setting up all their grandchildren (all into ranch/4-H) to go to Wyoming. When I was talking to them about colleges they were adamant about how much they loved it, and how I should go too.

But I've been favoring LCCC because of the scholarships they can give the Equestrian team.

I agree with OuttatheBlue. Also, I grew up in Southern CA and out there Cal Poly was the ONLY place people would go if they wanted degrees in Ag or Equine Studies. A few people I know here like the University of Nebraska and are on their Equestrian Team, but they say if you really want an Equine degree they can be a little lacking in some areas, so if you are actually majoring in something else and want to be on the team as an extracurricular or do equine/ag as a second major, it's a good way to go.
