Trakhaner breed, would love to learn more about this breed!
Hey anyone got any information on this breed, my gelding is mostly trakhaner and a small bit TB
Trakehner's are from Germany, but originated from East Prussia
it us an extrememely ancient breed, has a large amount of Thoroughbred
blood in it.
The Trakehner of today has become one of the most versitile competition horses of all time. They have competed in virtually every ridden sphere
at the very high levels of competitions ie dressage and jumping
In appearance the head shows the influence of the Thoroughbred, They have a well made and ellegant neck set to powerful sloping shoulders. which allow for their excellent free-flowing movement,They have a strong muscular frame, which denotes speed with sturdy and hard legs. They are deep and wide chested, have a rounded barrel and compact back with powerful hind quarters,
The tail is set and carried high, and adds to their overall prescence and elegance Any solid colour is premissible and they range in height 16hh -16:2hh
Awesome! Thank you very much! That so just ready Oliver lol everyone asks me if he is part Arab cause if the way he olds his tail but his daddy and mommy where like both more then half trak. He's pretty small though cause his daddy wasn't even 16h he deffaintly has a bigger/wider barrel, not so much a big chest but NASA good angle on his shoulder and floats like your riding a cloud! He's so much fun!
this it just from one of my many horse books I have
I am happy you are having fun with your horse
What are his bloodlines?
His dad and mom where never registered so I have no clue. An old guy just had trams and the stud got over the fence...lol he's a one a of kind special boy! Lol
I drooled, and dreamed over these horses, and still do.....I finally saw one for the first time about a year or so ago, and it was not at all what I expected one to look like.
He was taller, but super thick, big thick legs, thick neck, and had a roman nose. I always pictured them as a thinner, but still muscular breed. Owner said she was 100% certain he was one though. Just not what I was expecting, but of course there are variations in all breeds :D
Csi- take a look at my boy. He's pretty much all trak. Lil bit if tb. He's smaller but very sporty!
I recently became more interested in them, as well! I read up a bit, & it's true that they've got much TB in them, and also that they've got much Arab! They're less the big & bulky WB type, due to all of that hot blood, even though I guess they're categorized as WBs. One Trakehner that I've spent a lot of time watching on video is Allure, Linda Parelli's horse. Brought over from Europe. It's been fun watching him get his horsey education in PNH, & now he's jumping, & doing it very nicely!
Post pics of your Trakehners, please, HF members! I've got my drool cup, am ready! :):):)
