here are a couple pics from my show last weekend; one is undersaddle & one is confo. ill post more once they are uploaded to photobucket.critique thoroughly, but not to harshly. thanks in advance!
confo: tighten up your throatlatch a bit - it shouldn't be able to flop around in halter at all. The shot is kind of at a weird angle, so i can't really critique his/her build.
What breed is that? (Rocky Mtn I think...please correct me if i'm not right!) In the gaited shows that I have been to, it is frowned upon to have your horse "propping" with a hind leg - they should be fully parked out with their head up looking at something (although, not like an arab ;) )
under saddle: actually, you look pretty good. I would change 3 things - the horse's head appears to be cranked to one side; i would straighten is head out a bit. Also, be sure your hair is secured with a hairnet so you don't have little flyaways poking out under your hat :) and lastly, I would move your number down to where the top of it is in line with the middle of your shoulders so it doesn't look like your hunched over.
Sorry if that was picky....i taught saddleseat equitation for years :? . Thanks for posting! We don't get too many saddleseat critiques on here :) You and your horses look great - keep up the good work!
yes they are rocky mnts & in confo they have to be squared up,not parked out.rockys are all about the "natural" apperance in things.
the confo was in the warmup ring before her class. i know, i hate the rear left leg! she always stands like that when my trainer sets her up, but if shes just standing like in cross ties, she dont do it.grrrrr.
gawd i hate my hair! i had hairspray, bobbypins, & gel...yet i still get flyaways.haha.it sucks.the show gave us numbers (we usually have our own), & they wouldnt stay on anybody...they had to stop the show in the middle of a class several times because somebodys number fell off!
but you werent harsh at all...ill get some more in a minute
here are some more pics from the show.
this confo one is taken at an angle...its the camera, shes not standing on a slope.lol.im so proud of her tho...she won again. she thes the first place yearling with 240points,the next has 80!
i like this undersaddle pic better because im more choked up on the riegns.
much better confo pic - - looks like you have a nice baby there!
your hands are much better in the second undersaddle pic!
for numbers (they always give us flimsy things!) we put a pin in our jacket midway between the soulder blades (insert it so that you can't see the clasp; the clasp is on the inside of the coat), put the metal part of the number through, expand the metal part below the pin so that it can't get through it again, then pin the number with a horsey pin.
:)keep up the good work!
ETA: try hair nets (i know, gross, but they flat out work!)
thats not my baby, but boy i sure wish it was! shes 9months old & 14.3hh!!!
i have a problem with slipping back on my reigns. we would be perfect if i could work on that & work on my nerves.im either really nervous n can barely function, or im so cocky i cant concentrate.
being nervous leads to sweaty hands which leads to the reigns slipping. iv tried gloves & they just make it worse! wow.
