You mean this one?

There's alot of people who need a beating in this world LOL

Yeah I agree. Bad horsemanship. Wish those horses would beat the crap outta them.

Edit: This kind of thing goes on everyday. Horses put up with alot.

when I see such behaviour on competitions I always wonder where are judges? I thought they have possibility to disqualify a person.

i enjoyed watching this video to better understand the effect, but one thing that kinda startled me was that this video mentioned how bad the equestrian sport is. Its like an anti equestrianism video! Yes we have some bad eggs, a lot actually, but we're not all horse abusers..

in my opinion equestrian sport is always bad when results are more important than horses, their feelings and health. unfortunately it isn't rarely met...:( very very sad:(

Yes, I agree with this. More often than not I think too much focus is on what the human wants rather than what the horse really needs.

That video is old. I think it comes out of Russia, thought not sure on that.
I don't know even ONE person who rides like that in reality. Not one.

henia 12-30-2011 01:49 PM

ups, I accidentally posted nothing. Can I remove my post somehow?I think it is Nevzorov on this video, but I'm not sure

Thanks Confucius.

I enjoyed watching this becaue I learned about how harsh the bit is, but it was startling to see those riders beat the horses. I've seen multiple people ride like that.

That video is complete and utter crap. Just one more person that has the fanatical viewpoint of "OMG, if you ride with a bit, then you must be yanking your poor horse's head off, you big meanie-doo-doo head!!!."

In every single clip in that vid, the problem is not the bit at all, it's the person holding the reins. They would be hurting the horse just as bad in a bitless bridle or a halter as they are with the bit because they are sh**ty riders; nothing more, nothing less.

Why it is so hard for people to grasp the concept that some miracle contraption that you put on the horse's head will NOT correct bad hands or poor riding. Bad hands and poor riding are uncomfortable/painful for the horse regardless of whether he is being ridden in a spade bit or a nylon halter.

There are lots of people out there that are much harsher with their halters or "bitless bridles" than I would ever dream of being with a bit.

So I ask the question, which option is better, regardless of headgear on the horse: A person yanking on the horse because of crappy hands and the unwillingness to learn to be soft or a person who works their ass off to learn how to be soft and giving with a well timed release?
