The good ol' Lacey girl

Today Miss Lacey and I went on quite the adventure.

We took a ride to a nature reserve! :D

It was a 7 mile journey total and we did it in exactly 2 hours, I thought it was funny that the numbers were so even.

Getting to the reserve was about 3 miles and the trail there was less cool than anticipated. It ended up just being a trail that went behind a giant apartment complex, no trails though the reserve or anything. But oh well, it was pretty.
Right before the reserve there's this huge boarding stable that made me sad. All the fences were electric+barbed wire and everything about it way just really run down. Many of the mares appeared to be pregnant and it was just worrisome. On the plus side, the horses were all at good weights and their hooves, while not well trimmed, were trimmed. They really wanted to say hi to Lacey and I could hear them whinnying for her for quite a while after we left. Lacey was adorable and just nickered at them like "Hi guys!" and then puffed herself all up like "Look! I'm a fancy Arabian! Queen of the desert!

Miss Lacey was being her super sassy self and trying to trot everywhere which was a pain, but I kept her under control so that was good. She probably would have been happy to trot most of the way there but since the whole way there is paved with asphalt, trotting=bad idea. There is a narrow grassy area to the side of the trail but Lacey was being spooky enough that I didn't want to tempt her with speed+scary things. Maybe next time I'll let her go faster.
In any case, at one point, using my GPS, I clocked her walking at 8 miles an hour! I think she was actually flat-walking at that point but who knows.

On the way back home we jumped a log which was really fun. It was super tiny and very low but we jumped it, nonetheless.

Anyway, picture time!

More nature reserve!

Cute horses. The one in the back was probably 4 or 5 or younger, the appy was probably mid-teens, and judging by the enormous swayback on the brown she was probably Lacey's age, or older! There were more horses, but these were the only three to come all the way over.

More of the horses. They had a little Welsh (that cute little white one). I want to steal it so bad. It was ADORABLE.

Me and Lacey, matching like champions (my coat was turquoise as well).

Heading back home. Our house is at the top of that hill. Way way at the top.

Awwww Lacey is sooo adorable!!! Looks like a very pretty and scenic ride!!! Love the pics...funny how she was acting in front of the horses.

I need to have someone take a video of Rodeo when we walk past the new mare. He really likes her!!! He holds his head real high, and kinda arches his neck, and just stands there staring at her, its adorable, but a pain in the butt at the same time.....look forward to more pics!!

I'm so glad you guys like seeing Lacey pictures all the time. To me, she's just one of those horses that has to be shared. Keeping her all to myself seems wrong. haha!

Also, thanks! :)

The best part of today, I think, was when this little wanna-be gangster who was maybe 15 came riding up on his skateboard, saw Lacey spook at his board (apparently skateboards weren't popular in the 80's? XD ), immediately hopped off it and started walking. I stopped Lacey to thank him and he shyly said "Well, I've never seen a horse up close before and it seemed worried."
It was adorable and very kind of him. It goes to show, I guess, that appearance doesn't equal character!
