stuck in the mud
hello horse world! so there is a horse "rescue" and one group of horses is stuck in a pasture that is pure mud, every square inch is mud. Alot of this mud is about a foot deep, more or less. I can not imagine it is healthy for these horses to be stuck in this mud for 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This rescue, is more of a horse hording, the rescue manager loves the horses but, they will most likely be here for the rest of their lives. Therefore, stuck in the mud for many years to come :( I was wondering what effects this mud can have on these horses. Also, if anyone has seen a situation like this before, any advice on how to help these horses? The rescue has attempted to take out the mud but, it came back, which seems pretty obvious it was bound to happen!

Mud + Horses = ARG!!!! I used to not mind mud too much, then I got a horse (; Yes there are risks with keeping horses in mud for prolonged periods of time, such as mud fever, scratches, pulled shoes and muscles, and slipping. There's really not much you can do since you have no authority over the horses but the owners could maybe put lots of sand over the mud? Just an idea. I have no idea if it would work.
