grumblemoanwhinge- going to have to ride bareback tonight.
I have had some SERIOUS issues with a saddler, recently.
She was asked to fit my kieffer to Duffy.. she said she could, so she took it away.
My dad picked mine and his saddle up, within two rides it was sitting on her withers.
So they were sent back, my dad picked it up again.
It pinched her withers, and tilted up.
So it got taken away and my dad picked it up again. I don't know how many times I had said to my dad make her bring them to us.. she never once saw me work Duffy in the saddle.
So third time.. the gullet sits too close to her spine.
My dad's mare tried to REALLY throw him becaus her saddle fit so poorly.
So he's written this email, out here you get three attempts, if you don't get it right, we don't pay. Dad has said we'll pay for the materials, not the work.
A week he's had it, and not sent it to the lawyer and the saddler.
So I have no saddle.
At all, I had been borrowing a saddle from my old horse, but they use it and this week the only day I will be able to ride is Wednesday.
Not brilliant when my cow of a horse NEEDS to be worked every day. I can't even get in the lunge pen, its fully booked.
Miffed is an understatement. I feel like I could cry- we get Duffy working well.. and now no more working.
I've only ridden bareback from fields, and once on my old round horse. She has a bony back and high withers.. and I have no idea how I'm even going to get on.
Sorry.. needed to really rant at the stupidness of this :(
How frustrating!! I have been fairly fortunate with my saddles but my friend has had just as many issues. Hope you're able to ride!
Sometimes the comfiest of horses are the ones with the bony backs :)
I sometimes sit on a normal saddle pad when I don't wanna get dirty. If it starts to move, it's easy to fix because it's the just pad.
Good luck bareback. I love it :)

I managed to lunge her. There were 7 people in the school, so I am glad I did.. and y'know what.. she lunged BEAUTIFULLY.
I will eventually do bareback-its getting on the horse thats going to be the biggest struggle aha!
Its just the saddle situation.. THREE TIMES.. how many more times do you NEED. She's got high withers, but a lovely, lovely straight back.. why is it so difficult argh!
I hope the saddler isn't keeping it for ransom.
No, no.. I have the saddle thankfully.
It sits either side of her spine, rode with my trainer without a blanket, took it off after she had sweated a bit, so we could see the marks... so yeah, miffed is an understatement :K
Poor Duffy.. she may be a bucking bronco, vet bill incurring, stubborn mare but she didn't put a foot wrong with every time, and every saddle I've tried on her, bless.
Thinking Sunday may be first day bareback as it'll be quiet...
Any ideas of getting on a BIG 18.1hh bareback are appreciated!!
ANY HELPFUL COMMENTS APPRECIATED
Gosh tiny, I don't even think a crane will do!! Be realistic!! I need to jump off the empire state building!
Hmmm are there any big rocks you could use? Or ask someone with a super calm horse, stand on that one and jump on your horse! XD
No big rocks.. flat as a pancake round here!
But that could be a good way xD
