Need suggestions on what I should do with her mane! (pics)

*points to title*

Her mane is a complete mess! Some parts are short,
some parts stands up, and some parts are long!!
It also doesn't want to lay down at all. Should I
cut it all one even length? :?

I need some suggestions, I am lost!

I'd probably roach it and start over. Start treating it with mtg.

BluMagic 07-04-2008 12:17 PM

Ya I would say cut it all to the same length. That way it can grow out faster and nicer lol

Jubilee Rose 07-04-2008 12:27 PM

Lol, I was just about to suggest roaching as well. Although sometimes with Appys they tend to have kind of scraggly manes ... :?

BluMagic 07-04-2008 12:30 PM

True. I've always had Appy's with short little mane's. Blu is the first with a nice grown one.

I agree, roaching is a good idea. Some use of MTG wouldn't hurt, either. :)

Small_Town_Girl 07-04-2008 02:05 PM

What is roaching? And what is MTG?

I feel stupid.....

GeminiJumper 07-04-2008 02:10 PM

Roaching is shaving the mane all the way to the crest or a little above.

MTG is a product that will help the growth of manes and tails and helps with damaged ones.

I agree with the roaching but a little concerned since he's an Appy.

Is it pretty thick? If you're not a fan of roaching (i always think it looks weird) You could just pull the longest pieces. (and repeat after that grows out a bit) It will thin it out (which will help it to lay flat) and make it more even. Plus cutting always gives it that weird blunt thick edge that doesn't look so great. Pulling makes it look more natural! Also to make it lay flat on one said I wet my horse's mane, comb some styling gel through it. and braid it down (pulling down as you go). Leave it in for a couple of days then comb it out again. It might take a couple of braids to really "train it".

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Roached manes! I kinda wish my guys has crappy manes so I would have a good reason to do it!

I say go for it! Roach that baby! 8)
