What do Polos do???

Howdy,
I have always been told that Polos support the horses leg/tendon. But recently I have been hearing that they don't actually support a single thing. Is this true??? Has my effort to learn how to properly wrap been a huge waste??? If they don't support, what do they do, other than protect from interfering??

Polos do not offer much, if any, actual support. I always use them when I do flat work, especially lateral work, because they offer very good protection from the horse clipping itself with his hooves. it can also protect against hitting jump rails, although I prefer boots while jumping. Polos can slip when jumping.

They come in cool colors and really dress up a leg.

Basically the two responses above. They're pretty and they prevent any scrapes or kicks and are good for protecting the legs from the elements on trail rides. Other than that? Nothing.

There is actually a really informative thread going on about the difference in support boots and polo wraps...There is a lot of information and articles in the thread. You could poke around there, read some of the articles and find out some answers to your question.
