Help !! Buying a 10 mnth mini shetland colt. what shall i feed it ??

Can someone please help me decied on what i should be doing with my new 10 month old cold mini shetland  i have a 16hh warmblood and have not got a clue what to feed my mini if i get it i want one as a compaion you see and looking fawred to having some extra life on my yard. i have about an acre of grazing my horse at this time of year basically lives off hay and halidge, i will ovbs have him parted form mine at first to get them use to each other, but how much hay and feed hsould i be given him, specific types ?? brands ect ?? i would also liek to give him a vit a min sup as i think this is essentail in a horses diet espacilly this time of year so he will have to have something with this. he will also live out all the time but my horse will go in but the shetland will be able to wounder around his stable out-side ect so maybe have him a haynet tyed up outside.. how much hay should i be given him.. and once they are happy togeather i would liek them both to be turned out togeather then in summer ovbs my mini will have to be restricted.. but there is hardely any grass at mo so will it matter. hope this makes sense if someone is in similer situ coudl they tell me what they feed do ect.

thanks so much

connor

Welcome to the Horse Forum. I am just learning myself, but I was wondering if you had maybe talked to your horses vet? He/she might be able to give you some good advice on what to feed and on how much. Good luck and we love to see photos.
